The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has slammed Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State for calling him a dictator and that he is the person who controls the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Gov. Wike also stated that David Umahi had been making threats long before his defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated this on Wednesday evening while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“If there is one person that has supported Umahi, it is me. But for him to threaten the party is wrong.
“Umahi wants to run for President of Nigeria but he has no right to threaten anybody. Politics is dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
Wike further added that “Nobody threatens anybody just because you want to gain something. Which means he has been working with the APC.”
In addition, he noted that he supports the view that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the southeast but however added that “who tells Umahi that he is the only qualified South-East person to be president?”
Besides, Wike noted that it is an insult “on the intelligence of the South-East people” for Umahi to state that he has the interest of the region at heart.
Reacting to the view that he controls the affairs of the PDP, he said “On the other hand, if you watch him today on Arise TV, he said one of the reasons is that Wike is a dictator. Wike controls the party. Which one do we take now? Was Wike in charge from 1999? When did Wike become relevant?”
Besides, Wike stated that the manner in which Umahi went about the issue is not proper, adding that “You don’t do it in a way that you say ‘if you don’t give us, we will leave’. Now, the place where you are going to, have they come to tell you that they are giving you the Presidency?”
TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that Gov. Umahi had alleged that his defection to the APC was due to the injustice being meted on the Southeast region by the PDP.
