A large group of white South Africans, including foreigners from European countries and Zimbabwe, marched to the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria yesterday to hand over a petition.

Among their demands was the creation of an independent Afrikaner state in South Africa.

The protesters, many of whom were from the Afrikaner community, expressed frustration over what they described as racist laws and policies implemented by the South African government.

They held placards with messages such as “Thank God for President Trump” and criticized the government’s land expropriation policies and affirmative action measures, which they claim discriminate against the white minority.

The U.S. Mission in South Africa acknowledged receiving the petition, which was addressed to President Donald Trump. In a statement, the embassy said, “We will transmit the full text of the document to the President and Secretary of State for immediate action.”

The petition comes amid heightened tensions over land reform in South Africa. Last week, President Trump issued an executive order cutting aid to South Africa, citing concerns over the expropriation of land from white farmers, whom he referred to as “racially disfavored landowners.”

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has denied allegations that the land reform law targets any racial group. In a recent speech to Parliament, Ramaphosa emphasized that the law aims to address historical inequalities stemming from apartheid and colonialism.

“The people of this country know the pain of forced removals,” Ramaphosa said. “The land law does not allow any arbitrary taking of land and only refers to land that can be redistributed for the public good.”
