The Defence Headquarters has pledged to pursue the murderers of 17 officers and soldiers killed in Okuama, Delta State, no matter how long it takes.

Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, made this statement at a media briefing after a joint security meeting in Abuja.

Musa compared the hunt for the killers to the search for Osama Bin Laden, emphasizing that the military will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice. He also assured that notorious terrorist and bandit leader, Bello Turji, who has been using social media to threaten communities and display ransom money, will be captured soon.

The Defence Headquarters is reviewing operations in the North West Zone to improve synergy and effectiveness. A new operation, “Operation Fansan Yamah,” will be launched soon, operating under one commander, similar to “Operation Hadin Kai” in the North East and “Operation Delta Safe” in the South-South.

Musa called on communities in the North West to stop supporting or providing information to terrorists, citing an incident where locals informed terrorists about stuck troops. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in defeating adversaries.

The military is working with other security agencies and state governments to provide protection for citizens. Musa assured Nigerians that the armed forces will continue to lead efforts to rid the country of security threats, citing progress in the North East, North Central, and South East regions.
