The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hajiya Farida Umar, has said that the judgment of the Federal High Court in Ibadan validating the Ibadan PDP convention, which led to the emergence of the Taninu Turaki-led executive in 2025, shows that the court can be seen as unbiased, aligning with the facts and law that led to the organisation of the convention.

She noted that what was most important is the Appeal Court judgment, where the party has gone, urging the justices of the appellate court to do the right thing just as the lower court did.

“The most important thing that we are waiting for now at the PDP is the Appeal Court judgment. We call on the Justices to do the right thing as the Ibadan court has done its own,” she said.

She spoke to Vanguard in Lafia, where she distributed food items, beverages and cash to PDP stakeholders in the 13 wards of Lafia Local Government Area of the state yesterday, to aid them in breaking the Ramadan and Lenten season fast being observed by both Christians and Muslims.

According to Farida Umar, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is scared of the grassroots presence of the PDP in all parts of the country, despite having about 30 state governors.

“You know the APC, led by President Bola Tinubu, is so scared because they know that the PDP is the only opposition party that is everywhere.

“No matter what, the PDP cannot be broken despite all the attempts to break the party. I want to assure the people of Nigeria that the PDP cannot be broken because we are already rooted at the grassroots. The APC has 30 governors, but they are still afraid.”

She said that the electorate should not be disturbed, as the PDP is on ground and will showcase its candidates from the state to the national level come 2027 and will be victorious in the elections.

She expressed disappointment over the resignation of the former gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Nasarawa State, saying that it was painful to members of the party who sacrificed everything during the two times David Umbugadu was their governorship candidate.

“Like the last candidate has left the party, it is very painful, but that does not mean that we are not going to showcase another by the grace of God. That is why I am here to talk to my people, because politics is grassroots.

“I am telling them that they should be firm, that the former governorship candidate defecting does not mean that we are not going to have another candidate by the grace of God and we will win in 2027,” she assured.
