James Momoh, chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), says he has a dream that Nigerians will enjoy uninterrupted electricity supply one day.

This is coming less than five days after the national grid collapsed twice within two hours, causing blackout across the country.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) had said the frequent collapses of the grid cannot be totally avoided in the absence of a spinning reserve.

Momoh shared his dream with the audience at a programme on the electricity sector.

“I have a dream that one day, my people Nigerians, will have power 24/7. I have a dream that Nigeria will overcome all pressures,” the NERC chairman said.

“I have a dream that this country Nigeria, with the African people, we have come with solidarity, one mind to make a change, to reflect that there is hope. Keep hope alive.”

In 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari had assured Nigerians of affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply in “not too distant future”.

Speaking during his 59th Independence day broadcast, the president said his administration is resolute in reforming the power sector.

“I remain confident that Nigerians will have affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply in the not too distant future,” the president said.
