The video published, by Instablog9ja showed, the naval rating on uniform channeling fast flowing water from a hose on the face of a man who was forced to stand on his hands. When the man could no longer sustain the stance and dropped his legs to the floor, the military officer is seen whipping him, asking him to go back to the handstand. While administering the punishment, the Naval rating kept asking if the man being punished was happy. Reacting to the video, many Nigerians condemned the action of the naval rating. Iamogheneovo said; “Whether he is a security guard or a soldier, this is so inhuman and unfair, is it not the same camo that the elites and celeb will wear and they will answer “Sir” to them as escorts?” Olaide0 wrote: “You ain’t treat people like animals coz of a mere ugly uniform.” Gabbyirigs_o said: “This is just blatant nonsense. This act of punishing people wearing camo shows no regard for the military. In fact, it is more like love for the uniform than the country. What Nonsense!!! This is nothing more than just finding a reason to be plain wicked.” Meanwhile, some commentators believe people should leave the camouflage alone for the military to avoid trouble altogether. “My point is people should stop wearing camouflage since the law is against it,” wrote t_p214@nocrapnn. It is not the first time people would be beaten up for putting on military camouflage. In February 2017, two soldiers attached to the military police beat up a crippled man on New Market Road, Osha, Anambra State, for dressing in camouflage. The act was also caught on camera. In another case in August, a lady was forced to undress in public because she wore a military camouflage. More recently 0n October 10, two young men identified as students of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode were brutalised by security men for placing a camouflage face cap on the dashboard of their vehicle. https://www.facebook.com/thewuzupnaija/videos/802226829961331/]]>
