A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man has murdered a young lecturer working with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

The incident happened on Friday night at Ifite village in Awka, the State capital.

According to information provided by our reporter, the lecturer, who works in the psychology department and goes by the name Chima Anolue , was killed immediately after having a brief quarrel with his houseboy that resulted in a brawl between the two.

Videos that are presently popular on social media showing the suspect as he admitted to really killing the instructor with a pestle provided further support for this.

He responded, “He told me to boil rice when he came back. He also questioned me about why I didn’t wash the dishes when I was preparing the rice. I didn’t respond to him in any way. He then inquired as to why I hadn’t replied to his earlier query.

He smacked me as a result. However, I informed him that I typically have ear issues and that I don’t get slapped. He questioned me furiously whether I was still talking when he was speaking as I was finishing that. He then pulled out Cain and began flogging me all over the place after slapping me once more.

“I then became enraged during the process, and we then began to fight. Along with that, I grabbed up the kitchen pestle during the altercation and struck him in the head.

Additionally, the suspect admitted to hitting Chima with the pestle up to three times before ceasing, after he had already fallen to the ground and was covered in blood.

The dead was also shown on the video laying motionless on a hospital bed, surrounded by grieving family members and friends, as well as medical staff members who were questioning the suspect.

Additionally, it was learned that when Chima’s friends and the suspect were taking him to the hospital that night for treatment following the incident, the suspect was allegedly trying to suffocate to death nearby in the car.

We only became aware of what was happening throughout the process, at which point we knocked off his hand and began to distrust him. As that was happening, the victim, who was still alive at the time, coughed out the suspect’s name with all of his remaining might before he eventually passed away, according to one of the witnesses.

The defendant allegedly first denied any knowledge of Chima’s death but later confessing to the crime after being beaten by the hospital’s on-call physician that evening.

“In his admissions, he first admitted that the deceased’s girlfriend, who had visited him that evening, was the one who assaulted him. But after additional torture, he ultimately admitted that he was the one who used a pestle to murder Chima, the source added.

In order to make it seem as though the dead was assaulted by a third party, the Abakaliki-born suspect allegedly bruised the deceased’s body with a knife after knocking him out. This claim was made by a person near to the site of the crime. Although the accusation was refuted by the suspect.

All attempts to reach DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, for comments on the situation were unsuccessful since he had not returned messages as of the time of publishing.
