A massive turnout of civil servants for the mandatory IPPIS verification exercise in Abuja has resulted in disorderly scenes and complaints of poor planning.

Videos emerging online show uncontrolled crowds struggling to access the designated registration venue at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) in Kubwa.

The chaotic and difficult process has drawn criticism from the swarming public servants who have to forcibly push through the uncontrolled masses. Many decried the lack of proper arrangements to streamline the exercise.

According to officials, the Auditor-General of the Federation failed to effectively plan the centralized registration. Stakeholders suggested the verification should have been scheduled in batches per agency daily to ease the pressure.

Some also proposed that the exercise be decentralized and conducted in each state capital and online to curtail the human congestion in Abuja. The chaotic crowds have undermined the registration with many unable to complete the process.

The mandatory IPPIS verification exercise was scheduled from October 16 to 27 targeting civil servants across Nigeria. But the centralization of the program in Abuja has elicited complaints over the disorderly scenes.

Authorities have been urged to urgently restrategize the exercise for effectiveness by spreading it to state capitals and online. Many civil servants remain strandedunable to complete the verification. The chaotic arrangement has left them disappointed and frustrated.
