* EFCC sources: No plans to arrest Onnoghen The Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Awassam Bassey, JP has debunked the rumour making the round that the Abuja Home of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen, has been raided by Security Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). Debunking the report made by an online media outlet, the SSA disclosed to TheNigerialawyer (TNL) in a telephone conversation that the report is not true, stressing that, the FFCC has not invaded the home of the Justice, and that it could probably be a plan, but not yet effected to his knowledge. TNL recalls that some online media has earlier made a report stating that the Abuja Home of the Chief Justice of Nigeria was under siege by men of the anti-graft agency over an allegation of false assets declaration in breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) has described as “untrue and evil”, reports in some quarters that its personnel had invaded the Abuja residence of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen. Spokesman of the commission Tony Orilade tod the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday that the fake news “ is being spread by evil men and women to get evil results.” Yinka Odumakin, the Afenifere national publicity secretary, had recorded a short video broadcast on social media Tuesday afternoon alleging a raid on the residence of Onnoghen, who had failed to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Monday over charges of non-declaration of assets.]]>
