The newly elected President of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Mr. Saidu Muhammad Tudunwada, shared his vision to foster peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse religious and ethnic communities.

Tudunwada, who assumed the presidency at MULAN’s 15th Annual General Conference in Ibadan, emphasized the association’s commitment to identifying and resolving potential conflicts to promote harmony nationwide. He expressed his intention to collaborate with groups like the Christian Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria to nurture interfaith understanding and dialogue.

“MULAN’s role goes beyond mere advocacy,” Tudunwada stated, underscoring the association’s mission to serve as a catalyst for public engagement and action. He stressed the importance of addressing common challenges faced by Nigerians while promoting religious tolerance, ethnic cohesion, and national integration.

With influential members like the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Tudunwada plans to leverage their positions to advance MULAN’s objectives. He pledged support to Fagbemi and proposed concrete steps to enhance his success, such as endorsing legislative initiatives.

Tudunwada called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to address Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges. He urged the government to prioritize job creation, education, and youth empowerment while advocating for streamlined governance and accountability.

As the new MULAN president, Tudunwada vowed to safeguard the interests of Muslims across various sectors and promote Islamic principles in legal proceedings and legislation at all levels of government. With a robust background in law and dispute resolution, including a Master’s degree in Company and Labour Relations Law from Bayero University, Kano, Tudunwada brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
