A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yakubu Philemon, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest Form to contest for the position of Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja Branch, popularly known as the Unity Bar.

Philemon submitted his Interest Form on Friday in line with the guidelines issued by the Branch Electoral Committee, signaling his official entry into the race for the top leadership position of the branch.

This follows the earlier call for nominations by the Unity Bar Electoral Committee, which opened the process for eligible members to contest various leadership positions ahead of the forthcoming branch elections.

The declaration by Philemon, who is the Principal Counsel of Yakubu Philemon SAN & Co., a law firm based in Abuja with an office in Gombe, has generated considerable excitement among members of the Unity Bar across all demographics, from young lawyers to senior practitioners to members of the inner bar, according to sources within the branch.

The NBA Abuja Branch is widely regarded as among the largest and one of the most influential branches of the Nigerian Bar Association, making its chairmanship one of the most significant elected positions in the organised legal profession outside the national executive.
