Ayi-Ekpenyong Imah, the Managing Partner of Bosker Law Practice and former President of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), was recently honored with the prestigious “Award of Honour as the Face of UNICAL at 50” during the university’s 37th Convocation Lecture and Award Ceremonies.

The event, held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, marked the university’s 50th Anniversary celebrations and featured a lecture delivered by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, MON, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Imah, a distinguished alumni of UNICAL, was recognized for his outstanding achievements in the legal profession and his continuous efforts to promote the values of integrity and excellence. During the ceremony, which was graced by prominent figures including the Senate President, Deputy Governor of Cross River State, several Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, and traditional rulers such as the Emir of Kano, Emir Bayero, Imah’s contributions to the development of the institution, especially the Students’ Union Government, were highlighted.
Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong, the Provost of the College of Postgraduate School and Chairman of the UNICAL at 50 Central Planning Committee, presented the award on behalf of the university. In his remarks, Prof. Eyong commended Imah for using the knowledge he acquired at the university to excel in the legal field and for being an exemplary figure of integrity. He also acknowledged Imah’s invaluable contributions to the institution’s growth and the advancement of its student body.
In his acceptance speech, Ayi-Ekpenyong Imah expressed his gratitude for being recognized by his alma mater. He spoke about the significant role the University of Calabar played in shaping his academic foundation and professional journey. Imah pledged to continue striving for excellence and impactful leadership in his legal career and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the university. He dedicated the award to God, his late parents, and his law lecturers who helped shape his path.
The event also saw the recognition of other notable alumni, including His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, the President of the Nigerian Senate; Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives; Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Deputy Governor of Cross River State; and several distinguished personalities across various fields.
