The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia on Monday, struck out the petition of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for Umuahia South State House Constituency, Mrs Phina Ihuoma Kanu, against the electoral victory of Chief Jerry Uzosike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was sequel to the application of Mrs Kanu to withdraw her petition.

Mrs Kanu said she withdrew the petition on personal reasons.

The chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Cornelius Akintoye, said the law is clear, when an applicant decides to discontinue a case.

The court subsequently struck out the case.
