The Plateau Election Petition Trial Tribunal sitting in Jos has affirmed the election of Caleb Mannanseh Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Governor.

It dismissed the petition filed by Dr. Nentawe Yilwada Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nentawe approached the tribunal challenging the declaration of Mutfwang by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Governor of Plateau State alleging as at the time of the election, Mutfwang was not qualified to contest having not been validly nominated and sponsored by PDP, which he claimed had no structure then.

However in its Judgment on Friday, the Tribunal dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.

The tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by the governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Alfred Dabwan against Governor Mutfwang.

According to the results, the PDP won in 10 local government areas (LGAs), including Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Lantang North, Langtang South, Riyom, Mikang, Mangu, Jos East, Qua’an Pan and Pokkos.

On the other hand, the APC had the highest votes in seven LGAs of Jos East, Kanke, Kanam, Pankshin, Shendam, Wase, and Jos North.
