*Disowns Tonye Clinton Jaja, Declares ‘Blue Silk’ Status Non-Existent

The Nigerian Law Society (NLS) has publicly disassociated itself from one Tonye Clinton Jaja, accusing him of impersonation, misrepresentation, and the alleged creation of a fictitious “New Nigerian Law Society.”

In a disclaimer and public notice signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Lilian O. Uche, and dated December 27, 2025, the Society declared that Jaja has ceased to be a member and no longer enjoys any rights, privileges, or authority within the organization.

“The Nigerian Law Society unequivocally disassociates itself from Tonye Clinton Jaja and rejects in its entirety his claims, statements, or representations purporting to speak for, act on behalf of, or in any way dissociate the Nigerian Law Society from his shenanigans,” the statement read.

The NLS, which noted that it is duly recognized by law and the judiciary, particularly through a Federal High Court judgment, also declared that it does not recognize any status known as “Blue Silk.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Nigerian Law Society does not recognize, confer, or operate any status, rank, or designation known as ‘Blue Silk’. Any claim to such a status by Tonye Clinton Jaja or any other person is false, misleading, and without legal or institutional foundation,” the Society stated.

On the alleged creation of a parallel body, the NLS said: “The purported creation or existence of a ‘New Nigerian Law Society’ by Tonye Clinton Jaja is illegal, fictitious, unauthorized, and unknown to law. The Nigerian Law Society remains one, indivisible, and subsisting, and no individual has the power or authority to unilaterally create a parallel or replacement body under the same or similar name.”

The Society further revealed that Jaja has a history of “hijacking and setting up parallel associations,” noting that he has been using his private NGO, ALDRAP, to award the “Blue Silk” status to lawyers.

“For this disruptive act, the NBA at its last NEC meeting passed an official resolution to take him to the LPDC,” the statement added.

The NLS warned members of the public, institutions, and organizations to “desist from dealing, interacting, or transacting with Tonye Clinton Jaja in any capacity purporting to relate to or derive from the Nigerian Law Society,” adding that any such dealings would be “done entirely at the risk of the affected parties.”

The Society also reserved its legal rights to pursue civil and criminal action against Jaja or anyone propagating falsehood, impersonation, or acts capable of bringing the Society into disrepute.
