President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka, who will now move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the administration.

The nomination of Oyedele has been formally conveyed to the Senate for confirmation in a letter sent to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, and until his nomination, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, a body responsible for overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.

A seasoned economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele’s professional career spans 22 years at PwC, where he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He is also a professor at Babcock University, Ogun State, and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
