President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the recently appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid renewed efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security system.

The high-level engagement followed the announcement of the new military leadership, which the Presidency described as part of ongoing reforms to boost professionalism, efficiency, and accountability across the Armed Forces.
In attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
Although the agenda of the session was not officially disclosed, sources indicate that discussions centered on enhancing inter-agency collaboration, improving operational strategies, and tackling critical national security challenges including terrorism and internal insecurity.
The meeting is expected to guide the strategic priorities of the new Service Chiefs as they assume command roles in Nigeria’s defence and security
