President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned 10 units of fully furnished four-bedroom staff quarters at the Nigerian Law School Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja, as part of efforts to improve staff welfare and strengthen legal education infrastructure in the country.

The commissioning took place on Monday, July 6, 2026, with the President represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON.

The housing project was constructed and furnished by the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the leadership of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON.

The project comprises 10 independent four-bedroom bungalows built for staff of the Nigerian Law School. The units were delivered fully furnished and supported with access roads, water supply, electricity and other basic infrastructure.

The Federal Government described the project as part of its commitment to improving the welfare of academic and administrative staff of the Nigerian Law School and creating a better working and living environment within the institution.

The project was executed across two locations within the Bwari campus of the Nigerian Law School.

Speaking through the SGF, President Tinubu said the project reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration and its commitment to institutional development, staff welfare and the strengthening of legal education in Nigeria.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by top government and legal sector officials, including the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike; the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud; Chairman of the Council of Legal Education, Emeka Ngige, SAN; and the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote.

At the event, President Tinubu also directed the FCT Minister to commence further infrastructure projects within and around the Nigerian Law School campus.

The President approved the construction of 20 additional staff quarters to further address the housing needs of staff at the Bwari campus.

He also directed the construction of two new 300-capacity student hostels, one for male students and the other for female students, to ease accommodation pressure at the institution.

In addition, Tinubu ordered the construction of the road network linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat to Nile University, a project expected to reduce traffic congestion and improve access within the area.

Further approvals mentioned during the event include plans for a new central campus auditorium, academic digitisation projects and improved support infrastructure around the Law School environment.

The development has been described as a major intervention in the Nigerian Law School’s infrastructure, especially at a time when staff accommodation and student housing remain key challenges in legal education.

The Nigerian Law School management formally received the completed staff quarters and commended the Federal Government and the FCTA for the intervention.
