President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new substantive Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), with effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), and signed by its Secretary, Abdulmalik Jibrin.

According to the statement, Adeyemi’s appointment comes as the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, is set to retire on August 13, 2025, after reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.

DCG Adeyemi, who began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, has risen through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service Headquarters. The Board highlighted his vast experience, including successful completion of all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses, and professional development programmes both within and outside Nigeria.

He is also a fellow and active member of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The CDCFIB praised the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Jaji, for his dedicated service and impactful leadership. The Board also acknowledged the reforms and initiatives he championed during his tenure, which it said significantly contributed to the growth and modernization of the Federal Fire Service.
