President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency and approved 25 other appointments across 10 federal agencies and commissions.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said they would take immediate effect.

Fayose will lead the REA board alongside Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed members and non-executive directors.

The incumbent Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed by the President will complete the composition of the board.

Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, alongside eight other appointees.

Former House of Representatives member from Lagos State, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the commission.

Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, representing Benue State; Oladele Olatubosun, representing Oyo State; and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Kaduna State, were appointed commissioners.

Dr Mai Adamu Yau from Borno State, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu State, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo State and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi State were appointed members of the commission.

The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, where he will serve as secretary.

Tinubu appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission and Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.

Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation in Kwara State.

Oloro replaces Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

The President also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.

Other members of the commission’s board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.

He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund in April.

The presidential statement also indicated that Tinubu approved a replacement for Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director of Housing Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority, who resigned to contest the 2027 Benue State governorship election.

However, the name of the replacement was not contained in the portion of the statement made available.

Byuan resigned from the Federal Housing Authority to pursue his governorship ambition after serving as one of the agency’s executive directors.

The latest appointments affect the Rural Electrification Agency, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, National Population Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education and the Federal Housing Authority.

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
