A TikTok user known as Scope2dTee has clarified a viral video in which he appeared to claim that he fell into a “bandits’ trap” after participating in a suspicious online giveaway.

The original video, which went viral on Monday, showed the content creator crying out for help after alleging that he received ₦100,000 during a TikTok live giveaway allegedly organised by bandits, only to later receive an email demanding ₦100 million from him.

“I also want to confess that I collected ₦100,000 during a giveaway some bandits on TikTok did. After I got the money, I immediately received an email where the bandits were requesting me to pay ₦100 million,” he said in the viral clip.

The video triggered widespread concern and criticism online, with many social media users condemning him for allegedly accepting money from questionable sources.

However, in a follow-up TikTok post, Scope2dTee said the original video was not a confession of a real personal experience but an awareness skit meant to warn the public.

He explained that he was inspired to make the video after seeing a clip on June 7 about people allegedly collecting money from bandits during online giveaways.

According to him, the intention was to caution young people and alert parents to warn their children against participating in suspicious online giveaways, especially those allegedly linked to criminal groups.

“I saw a video on June 7 about people collecting money from bandits, and I was moved by it. So I made a video as a warning, especially to parents, to caution their children against such actions,” he said.

“The video was meant to pass a message; it didn’t happen to me. I made it to show that every action has consequences, so parents will warn their children against collecting money from bandits during giveaways.”

The clarification comes amid growing concern over a disturbing TikTok trend in which some users reportedly share their bank account details during live sessions to receive giveaway money from suspected criminal elements.

Several videos have surfaced online showing individuals allegedly participating in such giveaways, sometimes with claims that the money later comes with dangerous demands or threats.

Scope2dTee’s clarification appears to distance him from the alleged incident while reinforcing his stated intention to raise awareness about the risks of accepting money from unknown or suspicious online sources.
