*Urges Peers To Seek Help When Overwhelmed

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Nabo Graham Douglas Campus, Port Harcourt, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of one of its students, who is reported to have taken his own life.

In an official statement signed by AIKOYE Praise Ofili, Public Relations Officer (PRO) Elect, on behalf of the Chairman, Mark Amararu Thankgod, and the entire SRC Executive Committee, the council extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased student’s family, friends, university colleagues, and the wider Nigerian Law School community.

“This loss is immeasurable, leaving a void within our close-knit campus community and beyond. We share in your grief and stand with you during this incredibly painful time,” the statement read.

The SRC emphasized the emotional toll and high-pressure environment that often accompanies legal education, calling on students to prioritize their mental well-being and seek help when struggling.

“We strongly urge every student to prioritize your well-being… You are never alone. If you feel overwhelmed, reach out to friends, family, lecturers, or mentors. Sharing your struggles is a sign of strength,” the statement continued.

The council reassured students of its commitment to their mental health and welfare, noting ongoing collaboration with the Law School Management to strengthen support systems and promote resilience across campus. Students are also encouraged to reach out to the SRC Welfare Committee or take advantage of available counseling services.

“This tragic event serves as a stark and painful reminder of the immense pressures we often face,” the SRC noted, urging the student body to foster a compassionate, supportive environment.

In concluding, the SRC called on all students to “honor our lost colleague’s memory by caring for ourselves and each other with compassion and vigilance.”

“May his soul find eternal peace. May God grant us all the strength, comfort, and peace we need during this time of mourning,” the statement concluded.
