Abu Arome, solicitor to a group of Ghanaian investors in the ownership tussle over River Park Estate, has applauded the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for halting ongoing prosecution and ordering a fresh investigation into the high profile case.

In a statement issued on Monday, Arome described the police action as a “bold decision” that holds the potential to uncover the full truth surrounding the disputed ownership of the high-value estate. According to him, the reopening of the case offers renewed hope to his clients, whose reputations and investments have suffered due to unresolved allegations and public confusion.

“This move is a positive step towards uncovering the full truth behind the events that have plagued the ownership of the Estate and affected the reputation of the Ghanaian investors,” he said.

Arome also expressed optimism that the case will set a legal precedent for enhanced investor protection, adherence to due process, and equitable treatment under the Nigerian justice system. “This case will undoubtedly mark a watershed, setting a precedent for greater investor protection, due process, and equity in the justice system,” he noted.

The legal practitioner further urged all parties involved to allow the reopened investigation to proceed without interference or prejudice.

The ownership dispute over River Park Estate has spanned for months, drawing attention from stakeholders in both Nigeria and Ghana, amid claims of breach of investment agreements, unlawful property seizures, and alleged forgery. The IGP’s recent intervention signals a potential shift toward resolving the impasse through a more transparent and comprehensive legal process.
