Adegboruwa, SAN is the Pastor in charge of Zone 8 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 20. Since his foray into public life as a student leader in his university days, Adegboruwa, SAN, has been actively involved in public interest litigations, rendering pro-bono legal services to indigent Nigerians and also taking up court cases for the benefit of the general public, through progressive advocacy, constitutional law cases, human and civil rights advocacy and general litigation and above all, doing the work of God.

Adegboruwa was an active students’ leader in the university. He was Public Liaison Officer, Law Students’ Society of Obafemi Awolowo University, Public Relations Officer and later President, Obafemi Awolowo University Students’ Union, 1992-1993; Member, Senate of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), 1992-1994; member, Legal Committee of vUnited Action for Democracy; Acting Publicity Secretary, United Action for Democracy; (2002); Founder and President, GSM Subscribers Association of Nigeria; former Deputy Editor, Human Rights Law Reports of Africa; former Senior Assistant Editor, Nigerian Weekly Law Reports; founder, Law and Justice Forum; public affairs commentator and analyst, social critic and pro-democracy activist.

Some Recognitions:

(i) In recognition of his robust contributions to the legal profession, Adegboruwa, SAN was appointed as a member of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Bar Association.
(ii) The continent of Africa also identified with the contributions of Adegboruwa, SAN and appointed him Chairman, Justice Sector Reform Programme Commission of the African Bar Association.
(iii) Adegboruwa, SAN, is the Patron, Nigerian Bar Association, Okitipupa Branch and he has made significant contributions to legal and national issues through his many lectures, speeches and court cases.

Citation/Activities:

(i) Adegboruwa, SAN, is cited in Nigeria’s Who is Who, page 41 and he has appeared to prosecute and defend cases in all courts in Nigeria, from Customary Courts to Magistrate’s Courts, Tribunals, High Courts, Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court.
(ii) Adegboruwa, SAN, is actively involved in public interest litigation for the protection and defence of the rights of the common man.
(iii) He defended murder charge against Professor J.G. Chinwa of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and the case to re-instate him back into the University against unlawful dismissal.
(iv) He was part of the Ogoni Civil Disturbances Tribunal constituted that tried Ken Saro Wiwa, Ledum Mitee and other Ogoni activists in Port Harcourt.
(v) He handled the case to secure bail for the Ogoni 19 on behalf of Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
(vi) He successfully defended criminal charges against OPC President, Gani Adams, by the State, in the early stages of the organisation.
(vii) He prosecuted the landmark Supreme Court case of Fawehinmi v. Abacha on the status and enforcement of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, up to the Supreme Court.
(viii) Adegboruwa, SAN, pioneered the legal struggles against the collection of toll fees on roads and bridges, leading to the landmark judgment of the Federal High Court, in March 2014, which annulled the toll collection.
(x) In 2016, Adegboruwa, SAN, filed a suit at the High Court of Lagos State, to stop the planned privatisation of the Probate Registry, for which he secured judgment on February 25, 2020.
(xi) In March 2016, Adegboruwa, SAN, secured judgment from the Federal High Court, Lagos, which annulled the restriction of human and vehicular movements on the last Saturdays of every month on account of environmental sanitation.
(xi) In 2015, Adegboruwa, SAN, took up the court case of the National Conscience Party, NCP, founded by Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, and he secured a landmark judgment against the inauguration of Caretaker Committees to run the affairs of the local governments in Lagos State, leading to the subsequent elections.
(xii) In February 2017, Adegboruwa, SAN filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos, to compel the President to accept the recommendation of the Honourable Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
