It is critical as a democrat and comrade to analyse any administration in which much has been given and much is or was expected as any administration which is opposed to criticism is tyranny in disguise.

The NBA elections were concluded on the 21st of August, 2018 and the result was announced accordingly. Based on comments from the other opponents that condemned the result of the election, Mr Ojukwu, a law professor, saying he “contested against corruption, massive vote buying, vote capture, rigging, and a skewed process.” among other comments, the result was challenged in court and judgment given just 6 months to tenure completion. If the NBA election cases cannot be handled within a particular time frame, then why do Nigerian politicians enjoy the favours of accelerated hearing for election cases within a specific time? Our judicial system has a lot to answer.

Nevertheless, we were expecting the new leadership to pick up the challenge and deliver the best administrative work to silence the critics and opposition, but what we have today is no different from the Buhari led regime.

I voted for Paul Usoro SAN because I read his reflections and felt he had something to offer on the table. Deep in me, I prayed it was more than just the rhetoric of the campaign and expected a better man than AB Mahmoud SAN. But from all I have seen so far, there is no difference between the Usoro’s administration and Buhari’s government. I will give my reasons in part 2.

One of the first expectations from this administration was to dissolve the unity bar two fractions and heal the existing wound and unite both houses by doing the needful. This will take courage and stepping on toes to achieve but will be an outstanding show of leadership in which posterity will salute. However, this administration has been entertaining both fractions in the NEC meetings and calling both ‘’UNITY bar’’ sometimes I wonder how hypocrites smile in their deceits. The Unity Bar is actually the pacesetters with much influence and strength.  But strong forces hiding in the pretence of cabals will not allow the progress rather, you will hear them criticize Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari like they are different and better.

At this critical stage of the country, where the judiciary is at the lowest state of honour -were we all know that things are not the same- and the executive rascality and ineptitude of our government institutions are so loud, We expected this leadership to be a voice for the common man and a stand in the face of tyranny and injustice rather,  what we see on every occasion are press statements that have little or no effects. Well, kudos to the publicity team doing the publication but what about the others elected? No one has heard about the office of the GS and National legal Officer since after the elections. They are not different from the average Nigerian politicians. The most embarrassing part of this press statement release was the retraction of the statement through its official Twitter page, @NigBarAssoc, the association said a “responsible National Assembly” should pass a resolution requesting the immediate sacking of Bichi. However, if the President fails to sack Bichi, the NBA said the National Assembly would need to start impeachment proceedings against Buhari. In the retraction, the NBA stated that the earlier tweet “does not represent the position of the NBA and was not known to nor mandated by the NBA President.”

Now we go back to the drawing board and realize that something must have played out behind the screen for a quick change of position. It is clear that the publicity team spoke the mind of the members but the president retracted it and spoke his mind. Someone wrote ‘

‘’Usoro grows some BALLS”.

It may sound funny but it is not. This is pure cowardice and opens the shame and lack of will of this administration.  Well, this administration will be known for press statements and retractions.

My fellow comrade in the Nigerian Young Wigs Forum Agwu David Nwaze (practice in Lagos) will ask this question ‘please what’s the achievement of this Mr Paul Usoro regime, as it prepares to handover?” please take note of the bold truth in this question and the best comparison of the administration as a regime. With almost two years gone, there is no meaningful project or innovation by the ‘’regime’’. I have answered the question of a learned friend and I will give my insight about this in part 2 of this series.

It is disgusting when I hear people boost organizing conferences when it even involves spending about 600 million Naira. That is no achievement because if you give anyone good money, you may see the same jamboree result. if it is a lie, ask about SPIDEL.  Friends what is the essence of spending good money just to secure big speakers and venues and after all is said and done, there is no implementation of all outcomes. That is a complete waste of resources with a sincere apology to those that may be offended. Why do we keep doing the same thing and expect a different result? We meet to talk and no concrete measures and structure for implementation are set in place. We must stop deceiving ourselves and shame the devil.

I will be unfolding the real issues and expectation of a reasonable administration and it will be a guide for elections and selection of better leadership for the Bar. In part two, I will discuss more on the expected welfare system and shortcomings of this administration as it is obvious new folks are coming with the same vibes and yarning for support. We already know their antics and we are tired of curtails and rectories of the campaign. It is the time to get it right in 2020. Watch out for part 2.
