Nkechi F Chukwuemeka, an Abuja based lawyer has expressed her sadness and sympathy over the dead of the 20-year-old student of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

Nkechi F Chukwuemeka said she still feels so completely dreamlike going through Chukwuemeka Akachi’s timeline. Reading his (the deceased’s) timeline, “his poetry, his soul, his belief, his demons, his battles, his atheism, his intelligence is unfathomable.”

She said she took up to two hours scrolling his timeline and reading his poetry and her little observation was that some of the deceased’s childhood experiences had sunk him into nothingness and he felt death and leaving this world could end the dissatisfaction he experienced in life. He kept on referring to an incident where her sister urinated into his bathing water and because his Mum couldn’t believe him when he reported, he was forced to bath with it. That incident happened once, but it so damaged his essence or belief in any person around him.

Chukuemeka continued thus:

“He needed love and affection but probably did not get it or find it.

“HE APPARENTLY TURNED TO ATHEISM. He was a member of the atheist society of NIGERIA on campus. what!!!!

“He also admitted to battling mental instability and depression and in one post, he said he officially needed a therapist. Who knows whether the help came or didn’t come on time?

“I wish I knew this boy before he died, I wish I could have reached out, maybe a call, a text, a visit, a hug…..anything.

“I’m an ardent believer of Love, let us Love and give solace to one another in this hopeless world.”

TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) recalls that the young man who happened to be 400 level student of English and Literary Studies was said to have committed suicide at an uncompleted building located at Sullivan Road, Nsukka by taking two bottles of substance suspected to “sniper” insecticide.
