Detectives investigating the August 6 killing of policemen in Taraba State by soldiers attached to the 93 Battalion, Takum, have reportedly obtained details of the bank accounts and the financial transactions of the suspects involved in the incident, The Punch report.

The PUNCH gathered that the police investigators were working to establish the financial connections, if any, between the soldiers and the kidnap suspect, Hamisu Wadume, who is on the run
Wadume who allegedly masterminded many kidnappings was being taken to the Taraba State Police Command in Jalingo by the Intelligence Response Team of the police when they came under attack from soldiers believed to be loyal to the kidnap kingpin.
Three officers – Inspector Mark Ediale, Sergeant Usman Danzumi and Sergeant Dahiru Musa, as well as an IRT informant, Olajide Owolabi, died as a result of gunshot injuries, while others sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
Security sources said police detectives were carrying out a comprehensive forensic analysis on the financial transactions of the soldiers, noting that “suspicious transactions would be flagged or noted for further investigations.”
A source said, “Having established the relationship between the soldiers and Wadume through the analysis of the voice and data records of their phones, we are also working to explore the financial transactions, if any, between the prime suspect and his military allies.”
Meanwhile, a postmortem examination has been carried out on the bodies of the slain men by pathologists at the Garki Hospital, Abuja.
The Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, could not reached as he did not respond to calls to his phone.
