The Learned Silk made this remark on Friday while congratulating the branch on her 2021 Law Dinner.
He said: “My commendation goes especially to the Branch Chairman, other elected officials and the Bar Dinner Committee for the diligence and organizational skill demonstrated in putting together this colorful event.
“The importance of Bar Dinners such as this cannot be overstated as same provides a unique opportunity for us as colleagues to network and enjoy the finest cuisine under a very relaxed atmosphere outside the extremely formal setting of our daily professional calling.
“I am also particularly elated by the theme of this year’s dinner aptly captioned ‘’Proudly Nigerian’’.
“While we in the spirit of camaraderie, wine and dine at this annual dinner, I urge us to reflect on the need for us as Nigerians to be proud of our rich heritage which is often disparaged due to the myriad of challenges facing our dear nation such as corruption, snail-paced infrastructural development, insecurity and failing educational system amongst others.
“My admonition to us all is to take up the challenge to change this negative narrative about our great nation.
“As we have several aspects of our commonwealth and national heritage worth extolling.
“Particularly our rich cultural heritage, our exponentially growing entertainment industry, diverse and rich human capital, and the sports sector amongst other aspects are indeed worthy of commendation and national pride.
“There is for me great hope in the Nigerian project only if we show the determination to make it work.
“Thank you for listening and bon-appetite.”
