The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate nationwide mobilisation and other campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The political support platform, which backs the joint presidential project of Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, said the council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology, administration and other campaign functions.
The movement’s Director-General and founder, John Ughulu, was named Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani will also serve in the campaign leadership.
According to the movement, the new structure covers Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed across all 36 states as part of efforts to extend its organisation to local government areas, wards and communities nationwide.
In a message to the newly appointed officials, Sani described their selection as more than an appointment, saying they had been handed a responsibility to take the movement’s message directly to Nigerians.
“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria,” she said.
She added that members of the council had been entrusted with taking the vision and message of the movement’s principals “from the cities to the grassroots, from the states to the local governments, and from the wards to every community across the federation.”
Sani said the movement was not intended to revolve around individuals seeking personal recognition but around what it described as a broader national agenda. She urged members of the council to approach their assignments with discipline, loyalty, humility and cooperation.
“The road ahead will require hard work. It will require strategic thinking, grassroots mobilisation, effective communication and, above all, the ability to work together as one formidable political family,” she said.
Among the zonal coordinators announced are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central; Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West; Amadu Gwambe for the North-East; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West; Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South; and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The council also appointed directors to manage specialised campaign functions. Rev. Mike Agbon was named Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; Peace Daful, Procurement; Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, South-East Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will oversee Strategy and Planning, retired CSP Richard Enemona was named Director of Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman will serve as Director of Administration.
The council’s unveiling follows the movement’s decision last month to retain its independent organisational structure rather than merge with another political platform. At its national leadership summit in Abuja, the group also reaffirmed Ughulu as its founder and Director-General while stating that it remained open to collaboration with organisations pursuing similar objectives.
The latest development also comes days after the movement called for an investigation into the obstruction of Obi’s convoy during a visit to Benue State. Police confirmed that youths blocked the convoy along the Makurdi-Gboko highway, while the precise responsibility for the incident remained disputed. The movement said its security personnel exercised restraint to avoid an escalation and called for an impartial investigation.
The formation of the campaign council marks another stage in the movement’s attempt to build a nationwide grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 election, with its leadership saying the immediate task is to ensure that its campaign message reaches voters across the country.
