Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Rt. Hon. Samson R. Osagie, PhD, has denied any involvement in financial infractions following his suspension by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

In a statement issued on February 5, 2025, Osagie refuted claims that he engaged in any financial misconduct alongside the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Damian Lawani, who was also suspended.

“Let me state unequivocally that I am not and was never involved in any financial dealing with anyone nor committed any financial infraction of any kind,” Osagie declared. He further emphasized that he was not confronted with any allegations before the government announced his suspension.

The embattled Attorney General vowed to defend himself and prove his innocence, stating that he remains committed to protecting his name and reputation, which he has built over the years.

Governor Okpebholo had earlier announced the suspension of Osagie and Lawani over alleged financial misconduct, ordering an investigative committee to look into the matter. However, details of the alleged infractions have not been disclosed.

As the investigation unfolds, all eyes remain on the Edo State government to provide clarity on the allegations, while Osagie insists on clearing his name.
