The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen has said that the Supreme court is now committed to having all court processes served and received electronically and that it will commence from Monday, 16th July 2018. CJN made this statement in a video sighted by The Nigeria Lawyer(TNL) where he said the SC is on a brink of a new era in the Nigerian legal system that will bring innovative technological changes and greater standards of excellence. https://youtu.be/QpIC-FNed80 According to him, the testament to this is the Supreme Court’s decision that from 16th July, 2018, it will only serve processes and accept services by electronic means, through the Legal Mail. “This means that all new filings at the Supreme Court as from the 16th of July must bear Counsel’s Legal Mail address(@nigerianbar.ng). “I am glad to note that some other courts are taking steps in the same direction. The system is designed to, and already capable of supporting the entire legal system. “Adopting the Legal Email system will enable you to be part of a judicial ecosystem that enjoys a seamless exchange of electronic information and better communication. “ I will implore all Courts and lawyers to join us on this quest for excellence. Subscribe to the Legal Email and reap the benefits of always having reliable information, automatically being seen as a credible practitioner and having undeniable proof of service. “Don’t hesitate, join us on our quest for excellence, start emailing from the Legal Email system now. We are committed to phasing out all manual processes. Visit legalmail.nigerianbar.ng to subscribe free. ]]>
