Multichoice has concluded plans for its SuperSport channel to broadcast the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Cote d’Ivoire.

Earlier reports had suggested the satellite TV provider might not air the competition after reportedly failing to acquire rights.

However, a reliable source has now confirmed that SuperSport has secured non-exclusive transmission rights for AFCON 2023. Games will be available to DStv and GOtv subscribers across multiple bouquets starting from Saturday’s opening fixture between hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau.

The announcement ends uncertainty over the broadcasting of Africa’s biggest football showpiece on Nigeria’s major cable TV platform. It comes as a relief to millions of DStv subscribers just days before the tournament gets underway.
