The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Lagos Chapter, has raised alarm over alleged attempt by the police to force the gate of High Courts open

TheNigeriaLawyer reported that JUSUN had in an April 1, 2021 circular, directed all its states and zonal heads to comply with the strike from Tuesday, April 6.

The workers are demanding financial autonomy for the nation’s judiciary in compliance with the Nigerian Constitution and a judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which affirmed the relevant constitutional provisions in a January 2014 judgment

JUSUN, through its member in a video made available to TheNigeriaLawyer on Wednesday, April 14, said they got information from a policeman that the Commissioner of Police has directed that all gates of Lagos be opened for free movement of people

JUSUN warned that the COP will be held liable for any infraction or anything that befalls courts in Lagos

“We wouldn’t want what happened to Lagos to happen again that is why our strike is as peaceful as everything,” JUSUN said
