The Global Center for Defence of Human Rights (GCDHR), Lagos, has extended warm congratulations to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) ahead of its 2025 Annual General Conference (AGC), scheduled to hold at the International Conference Center (ICC), Enugu, from August 23 to 29.
In a goodwill message, Chief Frank Agbedo, FIMC, founder of GCDHR and renowned legal practitioner, hailed this year’s conference theme, “Stand Out, Stand Tall”, as timely and poignant, reflecting the need for the Bar to distinguish itself amidst the growing challenges of poverty and insecurity threatening the lives and properties of Nigerians.
Agbedo emphasized the critical role of the legal profession as guardians of the law, champions of justice, and defenders of human rights. He noted that the conference provides an important platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and strategic networking, enhancing the capacity of lawyers to advocate freely for social justice nationwide.
The GCDHR message commended the NBA leadership, under President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, for steering the Bar through significant challenges facing the legal profession in Nigeria. The organization urged the NBA to leverage the conference to make a lasting positive impact on both lawyers and the broader society.
“The audacious assembly of brilliant legal minds and industry experts, carefully curated by the Central Planning Committee led by Akajiugo Emeka Obegolu, SAN, promises to deliver robust discussions and practical insights for the legal community,” Agbedo noted.
The goodwill message also highlighted that GCDHR’s acclaimed Casebook on Human Rights Litigation will be available for sale at the conference, with limited copies at affordable prices. Interested parties can contact 08033254471, 09077950432, or email frankagbedo@gmail.com for inquiries.
GCDHR concluded by wishing all conference delegates safe travels and a productive engagement in the Coal City of Enugu, expressing confidence that the NBA would continue to champion justice, uphold the rule of law, and contribute to Nigeria’s peace and prosperity.
