The management of social media influencer, Michelle Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has retracted its earlier announcement of her alleged death, clarifying that she is alive and in stable condition.

The dramatic turn of events followed a tumultuous Saturday during which King Mitchy attempted to take her own life by consuming harmful substances during a TikTok livestream at the height of her ongoing feud with content creator VeryDarkMan.

King Mitchy’s management had earlier announced her passing in a statement via her Instagram page.

The post claimed that she died at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja and that medical efforts to revive her had been unsuccessful. It also requested privacy for her family during their time of grief.

However, in a subsequent post on her Instagram page, her management reversed its earlier position, stating that she was alive and recovering.

“Michelle is okay now,” the post read.

Before the retraction, Prime Care Hospital swiftly denied the claim in a separate statement, saying the influencer was neither admitted nor died at its facility.

“The management of Prime Care Hospitals wishes to inform the public that the announcement of the alleged death of Miss Mukoro Mitchelle, popularly known as King Mitchy, at our facility in Abuja is FALSE. King Mitchy was never a patient in our hospital and did not pass away here,” the hospital stated.

“We are working with authorities to investigate the source of this misinformation and will take all necessary legal actions against those responsible. Please verify information through our official channels before sharing.”

The situation took a dramatic turn during a live video session on Friday in which Mitchy, visibly distressed, appeared to consume a substance believed to be bleach (Hypo) while viewers expressed concern and attempted to dissuade her.

She later also reportedly took Sniper, an insecticide, during a Saturday livestream on TikTok.

King Mitchy had recently announced that she renovated a dilapidated school in Delta State within six days, suggesting that the project was proof that meaningful change could happen swiftly when there was genuine intent.

However, she reportedly made comments widely interpreted as subtle jabs at VeryDarkMan, who, in turn, accused her of being used as a political pawn to launder the image of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The controversy deepened after VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, was financing Mitchy’s philanthropic projects.

The claim sparked heated debate on social media and further intensified the influencer’s online backlash.

Mitchy later said the sustained harassment led to the loss of her business Instagram account.

Seyi Tinubu issued a statement on Saturday debunking allegations linking him to the feud between VeryDarkMan and King Mitchy.

He clarified the nature of his interaction with King Mitchy, framing it strictly within the bounds of his long-standing philanthropic work.

“I met Mitchy once, in a public setting, alongside others. On that occasion, I provided financial support toward her NGO activities, just as I have supported many young Nigerians and organisations working to empower our people,” he wrote.

He categorically denied any private encounters, saying, “There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind.”

Tinubu took direct aim at VeryDarkMan, accusing the activist of using a feud he had no part in to attack his reputation.

“For reasons best known to him, VDM appears to have been looking for a trigger, an opportunity to attack and attempt to harm my reputation and seized upon this situation to do so. I will not accept that,” he wrote.

Before the incident, King Mitchy had opened up about the emotional toll of the backlash on Instagram, recounting her difficult childhood.

“A lot of people have a lot to say about me lately… questioning my intentions, dragging my name, and trying to discredit something I did from my heart,” she wrote.

“Yes, I renovated that school. I didn’t do it for validation. I did it because I understand what it means to grow up without certain privileges.

“I grew up without a father. If I see my father today, I wouldn’t even recognize him. The only time I ever saw him was when I was about 8 years old, and my mother took me to the prison to see him. That was it.

“You don’t know what it feels like to grow up like that. You don’t know the strength it takes to keep going, to build yourself, to stand on your own. Yet, every day, people sit behind their phones and try to tear me down, insult me, bully me, and make me feel like I’m nothing.

“But let me say this clearly: your words do not define me. My story did not break me, it built me. And everything I do, I do it with a genuine heart.”

Actor Tayo Amokade, popularly known as Ijebu, called for decisive action against content creator King Mitchy following her alleged suicide attempt during a live broadcast on TikTok.

Ijebu expressed alarm over the potential impact of such content on teenage viewers. He stressed that household cleaning products are not meant for consumption and warned that their portrayal in online broadcasts could send dangerous signals to impressionable audiences.

“I want to pass this message to everybody, especially to our police. I’m begging the police in charge of social media, that are monitoring the use of social media that we have children between age 10 and 21 that have access to social media. I don’t know when hypo that is meant to bleach toilet, clothes or used to clean our house turned to a drink all in the name of I want to end all, I want to commit suicide, I’m depressed,” Ijebu said.

“So, if someone is now depressed, the solution is to take their life? I’m urging the police to take action against anyone attempting suicide because all this Gen Z has a lot of followers. They are supposed to be role models, not a bad influence.

“Please I’m begging the police to take action against anyone that comes online all in the name of I want to end it all. She was seen during the TikTok live drinking hypo in presence of her associates,” he lamented.
