The Senate Committees on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Security and Intelligence, and Interior have issued an open invitation to stakeholders and the general public for a public hearing on two significant legislative proposals aimed at strengthening national security and legal frameworks.

The hearing will focus on:

  • SB. 969: A Bill for an Act to Amend the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which seeks to update and refine Nigeria’s anti-terrorism legislation.
  • SB. 965: The Legal Practitioners Act, Cap L11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (Repeal & Enactment) Bill, 2025, proposing a comprehensive overhaul of regulations governing legal practice in the country.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Senate Conference Hall 022, Ground Floor, New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, President of the Senate, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.

Interested parties are urged to submit 30 hard copies of their memoranda, along with a soft copy, to the Committee Secretariat in Room 2.4, 2nd Floor, Senate Wing (White House), National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
