Sen. Bamidele Greets Ekiti Citizens, Says Clocking 58 Was A Miracle

The Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has commended Ekiti citizens for their support since his foray into politics over two decades ago.

The Chairman of the Southern Senators Forum added that the unquantifiable backings by his numerous supporters acrooss the State and particularly within the All Progressives Congress enclave, has bolstered his meteoric rise in Ekiti and Nigerian politics.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary , Human Rights and Legal Matters , said this in his 58 birthday message to his supporters, in Ado Ekiti , on Wednesday.

The former Commissioner in Lagos State , who was born on July 29, 1963, will clock 58 on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

Having a retrospect of his political trajectory and odyssey, particularly the gunshot incident of June 1, 2018, where his stomach was pierced by bullets as one of the champions of democracy drumming supports for the return of Governor Kayode Fayemi as governor, Bamidele stated that the prayers of Ekiti populace brought him to live and not the proficiencies of medical experts.

Bamidele stated that he would continue to hold the people of Ekiti State in high esteem, especially the APC leaders that had given him the opportunities to serve at both local and national levels, thereby launching him to prominence in the politics of the nation.

He promised to fulfil that mission to dedicate his entire life serving humanity for their investment in his political career spanning over two decades, giving him the chances to carve a niche for himself in art of governance .

Saluting the progressives for believing in him, Bamidele said the veritable opportunities offered him at various times by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Governor Kayode Fayemi to offer services on the platforms of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria and the APC, would ever remain indelible in his heart.

He said: “Clocking 58 today July 29, 2021 was a miracle to me . I have passed through many daunting viccissitudes that ordinarily could have taken my life, but I thank God for his grace and my people for their prayers.

“The event leading to my close shave with death on June 1,2018, was the worst and the most miraculous. With this alone ,I remain incurably committed to serve God and humanity with all my heart.

“That event was one that taught me well enough that one can overcome any challenge, no matter how monstrous while enjoying the support of his people. While in the throat of death, the people stood by me until I came back strong on my feet.

“I thank my people for believing in me and my capacity to serve them. This accounted for why they gave me the unwavering mandates to serve as a member of House of Representatives and the present one I am serving at the Senate. These are opportunities I don’t take for granted”.

He added further: “Let me appreciate former Governor of Lagos State and APC National Leader,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for offering me the platform to discover my astuteness in politics as a Special Adviser and Commissioner manning different strategic political positions in Lagos State, which I considered a springboard to my political career.

“Let me also appreciate my good brothers and leaders, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Governor Kayode Fayemi, whose their supports have made me consolidated my political strength at the Ekiti homefront .

“To all my supporters across the 177 wards and especially in Ekiti Central Senatorial district, where I presently represent at the Senate, I appreciate your love and backings at all times”, Bamidele stated.

At the National Assembly front, Bamidele saluted the Senate President, Senator (Dr) Ahmad Lawan, for his detrabilistic posture and good working relationship with him as the Chairman of one of the most pivotal committees in the hallowed chambers.

The Federal parliamentarian also applauded the 51 Senators from the 17 States from the Southern Nigeria, for enthroning him as their forum’s Chairman, saying this has further amplified and testified to his acceptability at the national level.
