Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested suspects linked to the killing of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu in Anambra State, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday.

According to Edafe, on 6 December 2025, detectives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), acting on credible intelligence, apprehended 25-year-old security guard Godwin Mngumi, the alleged primary perpetrator. The deceased judge’s mobile phone was recovered from Mngumi’s possession, providing crucial evidence.

The spokesperson stated that Mngumi confessed to inviting a friend, Nnaji Obalum, and an unidentified third accomplice currently at large to Justice Okogwu’s residence, where the fatal attack reportedly took place.

Edafe added that Nnaji Obalum has also been arrested, while a manhunt continues for the third suspect. “This arrest marks a pivotal moment in our pursuit of justice for Justice Okogwu,” he said, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

The Delta State Police Command affirmed its commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
