A member of the NBA Welfare Committee and Candidate for the office of National Welfare Secretary in the forthcoming NBA elections, Auta Nyada has felicitated Ogoja branch of the Association on her 2022 Law Week celebration.

In his goodwill message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, he said, The Nigerian Bar Association, Ogoja Branch has once again displayed competence by planning and executing another befitting Bar Week this year, in spite of the daunting economic challenges and political uncertainties in the Country.

Nyada also praised the theme of the Law Week programme, describing it as the base of human survival and a very important discourse given current realities in Nigeria.

“The choice of this year’s theme, ”Rule of Law and Insecurity in the Present Day Nigeria” is apt and germane to the reflection of the current socio – political crisis in Nigeria.”

He continued, “The entrenched Fundamental Human Right to Life and the natural instinct to survival is the base point upon which the discourse on security must be given utmost priority by all concerned stakeholders. I am happy that Ogoja Branch is actively alive to this reality.”

Nyada further noted that the alarming level of insecurity in the country has placed a burden on Legal Practitioners to muscle up courage in the discharge of their duties. He said “The results of our performance must be visible to the Profession, the Court and to the public in facilitating strict adherence to the Rule of Law as it relates to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria. In achieving this end, we must ensure proper investigation, prosecution, adjudication and enforcement of Judgments/Convictions.”

Quoting renowned African thought Leader, Mo Ibrahim, Nyada emphasised that Rule of Law is the most important element of every society.

“In the words of Mo Ibrahim, ”Rule of Law is the most important element in any civil society.” This event will no doubt broaden the scope of our knowledge/awareness to the application of the Rule of Law as a veritable alternative in combating insecurity to achieve a better civilised society.”

He commended the Law Week Planning Committee for putting up a well designed programme for the event and for genuine selection of brilliant personalities to steer the wave of interest of the participants during the sessions.
