The State Chairman of the Action People’s Party (APP), Hon. Ernest Njesi, has formally welcomed Rt. Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, into the party’s fold. The declaration was made on behalf of the State Executive Committee and all members of the Imo State chapter.

The announcement, made in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, JP, highlighted that the event, scheduled to hold at St. Peter’s Field, Akokwa, marks a pivotal moment in Imo State’s political history.

“This is not merely a change of political platform but a bold affirmation of faith in the power of the people, the supremacy of democratic ideals, and the urgent need for genuine transformation in governance,” Duke said. “Rt. Hon. Ugochinyere’s move underscores his uncommon political dexterity, unwavering principles, and deep commitment to the welfare of the good people of Imo State.”

Rt. Hon. Ugochinyere is widely regarded as a frontline democratic advocate, a distinguished parliamentarian, and a dedicated political activist. His legislative achievements, advocacy for good governance, and defense of citizens’ rights have earned him respect across party lines. APP leadership described his inclusion as a significant boost to the party’s mission.

“With Rt. Hon. Ugochinyere now flying the banner of our party, our march towards Douglas House—the seat of power in Imo State—has received a decisive boost,” Duke said. “His presence strengthens our resolve to end political impunity and underdevelopment that have long plagued the state.”

The statement further called on well-meaning citizens, stakeholders, and political actors to align with the APP in its campaign for accountable, transparent, and inclusive governance. “Together with Rt. Hon. Ugochinyere and our members, we are poised to reclaim the destiny of Imo State and place it firmly on the path of prosperity, justice, and good governance,” Duke concluded.
