The Rivers State Judiciary has released Covid-19 safety measures on how court sittings shall be conducted in the State during this Covid-19 pandemic period.

The Notice of Safety which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) provides that all persons wishing to enter the court premises must submit to his/her temperature check and where his/her temperature is found to be high he/she shall be refused entry. Those who are coughing too will be refused entry.

“Only persons with face masks are allowed entrance into the court premises, without exception

“Persons wishing to enter the court premises should make use of the hand washing facilities”

No one within the Court premises or Courtroom, or offices or Chambers shall remove his face mask. Defaulters would be sent out by the Security Personnel

Visitors inside the Court Room/Chamber/Registry/Office – the court Registrar/Official shall ensure physical distancing of at least six feet between one person and the other. Only maximum of 20 persons shall be allowed in a court at a time

Persons who have no business in the court will not be allowed entry.

“Judiciary Personnel, Lawyers, and Litigants are expected to comply with these Directives.”
