Pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has withdrawn the legal battle agaibst the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani.

Ribadu, who lost the governorship ticket to Binani, had challenged her victory before a Federal High Court in Adamwa, alleging over-voting and other irregularities during the primary election held in May.

The court had annulled the primaries and ordered Binani not to parade herself as the party’s candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

But two weeks ago, an appeal court sitting in Yola confirmed Binani as duly elected APC governorship candidate in Adamawa.

In a letter to the Adamawa State chapter of the party, Ribadu disclosed his decision not to approach the apex court despite the fact that he disagreed with the appellate court judgement which reinstated Binani.

He therefore indicated his resolve to work toward the victory of the party, calling on his teeming supporters to work for all the party candidates for the 2023/election.

“At the end of the governorship primaries held on May 26, 2022, our agents reported clear cases of breach of law and irregularities, this fact was confirmed by the reports of the police, INEC and the Appeal Committee of the party but no internal redress came forth.”

“It was for this reason that we approached the court to seek justice. The Federal High Court agreed with us but it decided to declare that the party had no candidate which was not was we prayed for. In its judgement, the Court of Appeal however reinstated the candidate that had been declared winner of the primary. We disagree with the judgement but I have no intention of dragging this any further.”

“As a true party man, I call on my supporters not to despair but to remain faithful to our party. We should not let any setback affect our enthusiasm and support for our great party. I call on all my supporters to support all our candidates,” he added.
