The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a strong statement today, refuting recent social media claims about its services and reaffirming its dedication to facilitating business operations in Nigeria.

In a public notice signed by Registrar-General Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, the CAC categorically denied allegations circulating on social media platforms regarding its name search and availability services. The Commission described these claims as “absolutely false” and an attempt to undermine its reputation at a time when it is receiving increased recognition from both government and stakeholders.

The CAC highlighted its ongoing efforts to regularize all Fintech operations in the country, in compliance with Section 863(1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s guidelines for Agent Banking, 2013. To meet the regularization deadline, the Commission reported processing an unprecedented 15,000 applications daily, including weekends.

“Our hardworking approving officers are diligently reviewing each application on its merits,” Magaji stated. He also noted that the CAC has provided APIs to Fintech companies and established a Special Registration Portal (SRP) to streamline the registration process for agents, merchants, and individuals.

While emphasizing the CAC’s commitment to efficient service delivery, the Registrar-General encouraged the public to report any staff members attempting to compromise the Commission’s processes. He urged citizens to disregard “malicious and unfounded allegations” aimed at discrediting the organization.
