The NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE) has just announced that it entered into a collaboration with leading US Law Firm Akin Gump Strauss and Feld to provide trainings to Nigerian Lawyers on Media and Entertainment Law at no cost to the NBA or its members.

With the undeniably increasing influence and concomitant explosive impact of Nollywood, Afrobeat, and the Nigerian Entertainment industry on the global Entertainment landscape, there is, perhaps, no better time than now for Nigeria lawyers to develop capacity in Entertainment and allied fields.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Governing Council of NBA-ICLE, Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe noted that “ we are pleased to have entered into this strategic collaboration with Akin Gump which marks the beginning of similar collaborations that we have in the pipeline with other global law firms especially as it relates to capacity building, business development/networking trainings, mentorship and meaningful secondments for young lawyers, all in line with the vision of the current leadership of the NBA”. “We are grateful to the team at Akin Gump Strauss & Feld for their support on this”, Mr. Erojikwe concluded.

The collaboration will kick off at 6pm on the 27th of January 2022 with initial trainings on “The Media and Entertainment Ecosystem- A Global Legal Perspective” and “Music in the Streaming Era”.

The training faculty would be led by Chris Spicer , Head of Akin Gump’s Entertainment and Media Practice.
