Sikirullahi Olarenwaju Dabiri, known as Eldee in the rap scene, is facing a hefty N100 billion in damages due to defamatory and false statements he made about businessman Dr. Akintoye Akindele.

Akindele, the Managing Director/CEO of Duport Midstream Company Limited, took legal action against Eldee following comments made during a podcast with Teju Babyface on August 15, 2023.

In the podcast episode, Eldee accused Akindele of being involved in fraudulent activities and misusing investors’ funds to support a lavish lifestyle for women. However, Akindele’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has vehemently contested these allegations, deeming them baseless, untrue, and damaging to his client’s reputation.

Olajengbesi stated, “It is important to emphasize that our client, Akindele, is a lawful and diligent businessman with a longstanding track record. The allegations made against him have not only tarnished his reputation but also subjected him to public ridicule, affecting his relationships with business partners, investors, friends, and family.”

The lawyer further pointed out that Eldee’s involvement in the situation has deeper implications, given the rapper’s previous association with Akindele. “We are aware of your role in the ongoing power struggle for the management of Duport Midstream Company Limited, a company painstakingly built by our client over the years. Your transformation from beneficiary to antagonist raises concerns about ulterior motives,” Olajengbesi added.

The lawyer demanded that Eldee publicly retract his defamatory statements through the same podcast within 72 hours from Friday. Additionally, Olajengbesi requested an unreserved letter of apology from Eldee to Akindele, acknowledging the falsity of the allegations and expressing remorse. Furthermore, the lawyer sought N100 billion in damages to compensate for the harm caused to Akindele’s reputation due to the defamatory publication.

The demands underscore the seriousness with which Akindele is approaching the matter, signaling his commitment to protecting his reputation and holding Eldee accountable for his damaging statements.
