Against the backdrop of two separate court rulings absolving him of corruption allegations, Senator Nicholas Ugbane has charged the National Assembly to reflect his acquittal on their websites to save him from perpetual ridicule. Senator Ugbane who represented Kogi East Senatorial Zone in the 5th and 6th Senate made the appeal over the weekend in Lokoja. In a release by Abel Ada-Musa, his media assistant, Ugbane noted that the updating of the website to reflect his present status had become necessary to save him from untold deprivation. He lamented that the website of the National Assembly which continued to reflect the cases as pending and asked the Senate to correct the website to reflect the judgment in his favour. The statement noted that during the 6th Senate, specifically in 2009, Senator Ugbane and some members were charged at the High Court Abuja in charge Number: FCT/HC/CR/39A/2009 and the Federal High Court Abuja Number: FHC/ABJ/CR/89/2009 on allegations of commission of certain corrupt actions. He said, “Despite the decisions of two separate courts sitting in Abuja discharging him of the allegations of corruption in two cases, the distinguished Senator Nicholas Ugbane has continued to be an unhappy man. “This is because the records and website of the National Assembly where he served in the 5th and 6th Senate has continued to reflect that the cases are still pending,” he stated. He said he was unjustly and falsely accused adding that he would only be happy if the Senate put its records straight to reflect the true position that he has been discharged of the accusations. He said that he had written two separate letters through Barrister S.I. Ameh to the President of the Senate and the Clerk of the National Assembly dated January 11, 2017, and October 17, 2017, respectively requesting for the records at the legislative house to be corrected in respect of the allegations. He said in the two cases he had been discharged and acquitted by two competent courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.]]>
