The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Saturday, June 6, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placide, the police said the victims were rescued unharmed during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team, FID-IRT.

According to the police, Mrs. Adegoke and her twin sons were abducted on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. while she was driving them to school in Ibadan.

The Force said the rescue operation took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, after sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations by the FID-IRT.

The police said the efforts enabled investigators to track the movement of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation between the suspects and police operatives.

During the gun duel, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the gang.

The statement added that Mrs. Adegoke and her children were rescued unhurt and are now in safe custody, where they are receiving medical care and support.

The Inspector-General of Police commended the courage, professionalism and effectiveness of the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation.

According to the Force, the resilience and commitment of the officers were instrumental in securing the safe rescue of the hostages.

The police also disclosed that security operatives had intensified operations in the area to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.

Preliminary intelligence, according to the statement, indicated that some of the suspects escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Force said operations were ongoing to track, arrest and bring all those involved in the abduction to justice.

The Nigeria Police Force thanked members of the public for their support, cooperation and patience during the operation, while reaffirming its commitment to combating violent crime, protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of citizens.
