The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has revealed that the absence of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo in court, either as a prosecution witness or through a formal statement, is stalling ongoing cybercrime cases involving popular entertainers Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Tonto Dikeh, and social media influencer VeryDarkMan.

The NPF-NCCC disclosed this while responding to public inquiries over the intensifying accusations and counter-allegations involving the celebrities.

According to a statement issued by the Centre, two separate cyberstalking investigations and prosecutions are currently being handled.

The first case involves allegations by Azeez Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley) and Balogun Olamilekan Eletu (aka Sam Larry), who petitioned the NPF-NCCC, claiming that Iyabo Ojo made unsubstantiated allegations linking them to the death of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

The police confirmed that Ms. Ojo was invited, questioned, and granted administrative bail. Upon concluding investigations, the case was formally charged to court under the provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2024 (as amended).

In a separate but related matter, the Cybercrime Centre said it received a complaint of cyberbullying from Iyabo Ojo and fellow actress Tonto Dikeh against controversial influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.

This case was also investigated and charged to court under Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/149/2024.

However, despite several formal invitations, Iyabo Ojo has reportedly failed to provide a witness statement or appear in court as a prosecution witness, frustrating progress in both cases.

“The NPF-NCCC reiterates its commitment to impartial investigations, due process, and the protection of all citizens’ rights,” the Centre stated.

It urged all parties involved to fully cooperate with legal proceedings, adding that the Centre remains committed to upholding truth, accountability, and the rule of law within Nigeria’s digital space.
