Hey, Bar-man, what's up?
You sure got the best job;
What with all these patrons;
At your beck and call

Or, is it the other way round;
You feting them, to the last man;
Even if he is down and out;
Having spent all he had

But, hang on;
What's the big deal about that?
When members of the legal profession;
Also practice from ‘the Bar’?

Of course, of a different kind;
For them, it’s so reverential;
It’s almost temple-like;
So, here’s the deal, Bar-man:

Don't you think it's high time;
You changed your 'name'
And, left the limelight;
For whom it is more appropriate?

'Bar-man kor’, Bar-code ni';
As the Yorubas would say:
Spitefully, derisively;
Your stock response? 'In bad taste'

You could say that;
You're lucky you are here;
And, not in certain parts;
Of you-know-where

Where people like you ply their trade -
At great personal risk;
Where alcohol is not for sale;
And, its consumption is forbidden

So, thank your stars;
And, not the bar;
Which you call work:
The real bar-men belong to the Law!
