As we may have known, Chief (Mrs.) A. J Offiah SAN, is the first female Silk from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

It is, therefore, no surprise that the legendary feat achieved by this amazon of the Bar necessitated a courtesy visit by Y.C Maikyau, SAN and his entourage to her official residence.

Chief (Mrs) Offiah, SAN expressed great pleasure for the august visit.

She however expressed her concerns for the bar, one of which was the declining standards in both the Bar and the Bench, as well as the need to improve the welfare of Young Lawyers.

She also bemoaned the waning culture of ethics and values in the profession. Specifically, she deprecated the dress sense of some lawyers whose conduct continues to erode the noble values with which the profession has been identified. Furthermore, on the need to instill the culture of discipline, training, and industry, the cerebral Silk suggested an internship program for undergraduate law students.

She noted that a deliberate and organized Internship with selected accredited law firms would help to pass the requisite values and discipline in the profession to young Lawyers.

The highly interactive meeting ended on an optimistic note, with both the host and visitor expressing hopes for a better future in the profession.
